Frequently Asked Questions

What are the times I need to know?

We have planned a day that begins with the ceremony and concludes in the afternoon once lunch has finished.

We will share more detail about timing closer to the day.

You should plan to arrive at the ceremony venue from 10am for a 10:30am start.

There is a brief period between the ceremony and lunch.  Refreshments will served before the ceremony and immediately after.

We expect the formal part of the day will conclude by 4pm.

Will I be asked to perform a role on the day?

Because we are two grooms, we get to do things differently and decide what a wedding looks like.

This will be a day that will be simultaneously completely unique and still very familiar.  You won’t see all the traditional elements of a wedding day.

We have called upon some professional assistants who will be coordinating the elements of the day.  Our plan is to keep everyone free to enjoy themselves and enjoy the day.

How much walking will be involved?

We have chosen two venues that are close to a range of transport options.  There is a short walk to the ceremony venue, a brief walk to the transport and a brief walk from the transport to the reception venue.

Each of these segments are on paved pathway and the majority of the journey is on level ground.

The Royal Botanic Gardens include gentle inclines on paved pathway.  The ceremony venue is on lawn and guests will need to walk across lawn to take their seats.  Part of our journey in the gardens includes steps although there is a nearby pathway.

We ask that guests wear shoes that you feel comfortable wearing on lawn.

We are conscious that the safety and comfort of our guests is key.  If you would like more information about our journey, please reach out.

How are you planning on dealing with the weather?

This is an outdoor ceremony in the Royal Botanic Gardens.  The location we have chosen has lots of shade from beautiful, mature fig trees.  There will be patches of sun.

To keep everyone comfortable and safe, we will have additional shade.  We will be serving chilled beverages.

In the event of rain, we have an undercover venue in the Royal Botanic Gardens.  We will ensure that a message is sent to your mobile to advise of any change of venue.
